Loss

Written by Zelda, the day after the Mighty Ducks were swept 4-0 in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, and eliminated, 2-3, in double overtime.

So far did our heroes fall today.

In the early hours were they swept away

Reeling and hurt

Bleeding and sore

They had the strength for but one more.

Onto the ice they took thier positions

The roar of the crowd nothing

Compared to the din inside them

So the puck was dropped

And the two lines charged

Opponent and hero came together with a crash

And a clash of sticks.

For hours on end the sound rocked thier heads

They struggled and strained to pull forward

But when time froze and the horn sounded

Our heroes fell away

Hit thier backs on the ice

And still they lay.

No more did roars of crowd ring in thier heads

But the cries of loss all heroes dread.

Flesh wrung of tears

Was left nothing more

Our heroes were beaten

Limping and wounded sore.

And as opponents raised sticks in a victory cry

Our heroes were left on the ice to die.

So far did our heroes fall today.
