An Analysis of the Mighty Ducks Logo

The logo for the Mighty Ducks existed long before the animated series was even in preproducion. But the show sheds some very interesting light into the theological meaning of the logo, and it's origin in the animated universe. Read on for some thoughts.

On Puckworld, hockey is life. The stick, puck, and skate are all common trademarks of the sport, as they are on Earth. We must assume that since hockey is an ancient sport on Puckworld, those symbols must have been a part of their life for many generations. Symbols used in the composition of the Ducks logo can be seen in various parts of life on Puckworld itself.

The gree, downward pointing triange with the rounded top, overlapped by two yellow crossed hocked sticks, is one of those common symbols. It can be seen as a tattoo on Canard's arm and Grin's shoulder. It is also on Mallory's Puckworld Special Forces ID card. It can be assumed that this tattoo was a symbol of the Puckworld military, and more importantly, the Reistance force.

Next comes the mask. Drake DuCaine, being the legendary hero that he was, had his Mask incorporated into Puckworld lore. This might explain why Nosedive has a duck-headed goalie mask with a squinted eye on one shoulder. In a non-animated take, this is the secondary logo of the real Mighty Ducks team, and can be seen on the shoulder patches of their uniforms.

A combination of these symbols leads up to constructing the Mighty Ducks logo as we know it. First comes the green triangle and the crossed sticks. Then, a black circle, which to me seems to represent a puck. Finally comes a version of the Mask, contorted a bit to look like it would fit more of a human face.
